More and more people are becoming sensitive to harsh chemicals. Some easily get hives when their skin comes into contact with fabric treated with chemicals like formaldehyde. If you’re running a restaurant, you need to take this matter into consideration.
Any supplier of stainless steel kitchen equipment from the Philippines knows that dishwashers often use strong detergents to clean utensils and the sink. Doing that, however, exposes your customers to the risk of coming into contact with strong chemicals, and they could develop an allergic reaction to this.
To ensure the safety of your customers, follow these tips for cleaning your sink.
Clear the sink
First of all, you should clear the sink of food scraps. Since your establishment is a dining place, you’re going to get a lot of these tidbits in your sink. Ask your dishwasher to thoroughly clean the sink and clear all the food scraps before you move on to step two.
Sprinkle baking soda
Baking soda can be used as a cleaner because it’s a mild, non-toxic alkali that can remove dirt and grease from any surface. Sprinkle baking soda all over the sink. Make sure you put some on the walls of the sink, as well. Keep doing this until you’ve formed a thin layer of it.
Buff the sink
Once you’ve sprinkled baking soda all over the sink, get a sponge and start polishing it. Baking soda is mildly abrasive, so this means that it can pick up any dirt or grease that’s stuck on your sink without scraping the surface. You can also use baking soda on your plates and glasses.
Use lemons
After you’ve buffed the sink with baking soda, use some lemons to sterilize the sink’s surface and get rid of the smells. What you should do is cut the lemon in half and sprinkle some on the baking soda before you apply it on the surface of the sink.
When you’re finished buffing the sink with baking soda, take the other half of the lemon and rub it on top of it. Make sure that you’ve covered all areas of the sink that has baking soda on it.
The acid in the lemon will help get rid of the smell left by the food scraps, grease, and dirt. So, rub lots of lemon on your sink to make it smell fresh again.
Use white vinegar
After you’re done with the lemon, get white vinegar and start pouring it onto the surface of your sink. This will also clean the sink. Don’t worry if it starts to fizzle as soon as it comes into contact with the baking soda. That’s the natural chemical reaction when you combine white vinegar with baking soda and lemon.
After you’ve poured the white vinegar on all the areas of the sink, wash it down with your spray nozzle. Spray every inch to make sure that none of the baking soda is still sticking to the surface of the sink.
This is how you can clean your sink without using any harsh chemicals. Not only will it be clean as a whistle, but your customers will also be safe from chemicals that might trigger an allergic reaction.
